Hey peeps!
I am back from Okinawa! Actually...I've been back for a couple of days now, but I came back sick.... With that aside, I have just pulled off my videos and pictures from the cameras. On my trip, I brought my two cameras (since I found the charger to my old camera...Yay!), two batteries for my old camera, one battery for my new one, two 8 GB memory cards and a 16 GB memory. Boy, am I glad I had those memory cards. I took approximately 16.5 GB worth of videos and pictures and about 2680 items (pics/vids). As you can guess, it will take some time and energy to sort those and my all my other photos, so don't be expecting a dump of pics just yet.
Just to tell you quickly, my CSU group and I flew to Okinawa on Feb 12. It was a disgusting 8 am flight, meaning we had to meet at the nearest train station (being Takadanobaba Station) at 5:20 am. For those who don't know me (too well, at least), I am a night-owl, not a morning person. So a morning flight is not my friend, especially if I have to be up at 5 am or earlier to catch the flight. With that being said, I chose to stay up all night, rather than fear sleeping through my alarm....
Anyhoo...
Upon arrival in Okinawa, we hopped on a tour bus (which we had for the entirety of our trip) and immediately began touring.
We stayed in Okinawa from the 12th to the 15th, over which period we toured up the coast of the island and stayed in three different hotels. We saw two or three ruins and visited the old WWII era Japanese Naval base, which was a series of tunnels beneath the ground. We also visited the Peace Museum and Monument on the Island, which was just fascinatingly heart-wrenching.
I will go into a deeper discussion of the various sites when I get my
pics and videos up. 'Til that post, I will leave you with some teaser
photos:
FYI (For your info), to pull all my photos off my memory cards and to orient them all correctly, it took about 2 hours. Now I will have to separate the poor quality, the reference-purpose-only, and the good-to-upload photos, but that will have to wait until tomorrow. It's after 1:00 am here in Japan.
Welp, that's it for this post.
Until then, Later Peeps!
